Certifications

Certification

Certification is basically peer-governed hierarchical access control, using a 'Web of Trust'. The 'Web of Trust' originates from the site maintainers, and goes outwards from there, via Certifications.

In order to access parts of this site, you must be Certified, by your peers. In order to receive a Certification, you must satisfy your peers - not the site maintainers - that you fulfil the criteria of responsibility in fulfilling the aims of the Certification Type.

On this site, Certifications also apply to News, Projects and Articles, as well as People. The relevance of Certification to News is that it will automatically appear on the front page at a Certification of Apprentice or above. The relevance to Projects will be, when it is implemented, that the staff and documenters will gain authority regarding issues relevant to that Project (such as the ability to manage tasks, update Project information. Additionally, Certification will have a direct correlation to cvs rights for the Project's Source Control repository).
